Giacomo was awarded a BS in Biological Sciences and an MS in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Turin, Italy. During his MS training, Giacomo completed a 1-year long internship in Dr. Paola Costelli's laboratory, mainly focusing on the pathogenesis and therapy of cancer cachexia and obesity. In 2022 he enrolled in the PhD in Experimental Medicine and Therapy at the University of Turin, Italy, under the supervision of Drs. Paola Costelli and Fabio Penna, developing a project aimed to investigate immunomodulating strategies to counteract cancer cachexia. Since 2023, he has also been a member of the Interuniversity Institute of Myology Young Committee. In 2024 he joined Dr. Andrea Bonetto’s Lab as a Visiting Researcher. His main research interest is muscle pathophysiology, mainly focusing on metabolism and immunology.
